The visits will take place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 19:00 h in Spanish (with the exception of the 21st of December, Feast of Saint Thomas). On Saturday mornings at 12.30h visits in Basque language will be held. All of them will be free of charge for citizens upon registration in the web page www.bienalmugak.eus. The tours will continue until the exhibition closes its doors on the 12th of January 2020.

Exhibition produced by the Áncora association to commemorate the recent inclusion of the historic centre of San Sebastian in the list of Monument Sites. Based on a solid archival research, it gives updated information about the construction process of the whole area and its evolution in time; it also highlights the role of the different actors involved: promoters and architects whose individual contribution was little known.

A large number of photographies, engravings, sketches and drawings are put together with the aim of explaining the cultural values underlying the classification decree of the Old Town and the Port, making them understandable and bringing them closer to the public. The show also addresses the implications derived from the new protected status and encourages a debate among citizens about the preservation requirements and the need for urban evolution. The purpose of the exhibition is not merely documentary, it also attempts to promote a general appreciation of architectural creation and of historical buildings in particular, which are an essential part of contemporary cities.
