Ding Yao is an associate professor of Tianjin University, head of Institute of Architectural History and Theory in Key Scientific Research Base of Historic Building Survey & Recording, TJU & SACH. He is the Member of the Forbidden City Society(cultural heritage) and expert member of International Council on Monuments and Sites(ICOMOS China). His research and teaching area focus on history of Chinese architecture, traditional wood construction and normal. He has published more than 20 articles and several books on traditional Chinese architecture and wood construction.
