Fiona Pia (Andorra) holds a PHD in architecture and urban planning from the EPFL (Swiss FederalInstitute of Technology in Lausanne). Her research focuses on the elaboration of new models of densification and sustainable mobility in the mountains and in the rural areas. Her work has been awarded several times and is of great interest to academics as well as concerned local communities. In 2019, Birkhäuser, the swiss publishing editor, publishes her current research: Urbanizing the Alps. Densification Strategies for High-Altitude Villages. In addition to her academic work, Fiona Pia is a partner architect of Fiona Pia Architectes in Lausanne. Her firm is leading in the design and implementation of rural projects such as "Au Pré-Dessus" (Crissier-Vaud), which densifies the last large building zone of the village.
